The final phases of this project are 20% completed!  Crews continue to upgrade underground utilities with a work schedule that includes activity near the 2000 South area and the Seegmiller Drive area on 3000 East. The center part of the project, near George Washington Academy, will be constructed when school is out in late May.

This is an active construction zone and pedestrians, cyclists, ATV riders and other recreational vehicles are not permissible in the area. For everyone’s safety, stay in the designated travel lanes and obey all traffic control.

The speed limit is reduced to 30 mph through the work area with traffic patterns changing as needed. Stay alert and maintain appropriate speeds.

Crews are working Monday through Friday from approximately 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with no weekend work currently scheduled.

Thank you for your patience.

Project Overview

Starting in October 2021, work began to upgrade the 3000 East corridor from Riverside Drive to Seegmiller Drive. Improvements include intersection expansions, widening roads, adding curbs, gutters, and sidewalks, and improving Active Transportation.

Phases 1-4 are complete. Work has commenced concurrently on Phases 5 & 6 and will be completed by late 2024.

To construct the road, the contractor is required to install, replace, and move drainage and utility improvements while maintaining traffic flow. Also, the work is being completed underneath a high-voltage transmission line and in the vicinity of two elementary schools. Because the work area is narrow and linear, the equipment has to move in a tandem manner and cautiously to accomplish the work. Please remember that the construction zone is active with heavy equipment and materials. No bike, pedestrian, or motor vehicle access in the active work area is permitted. Let’s keep everyone safe.

Thank you for your patience.
