Don't Waste Dixie - DEBRIS-FREE DIXIE DAY

Saturday, March 16, 2013

In order to help promote a clean City, sixteen years ago Mayor McArthur instituted Debris-Free Dixie Day, a biannual event. For each Debris-Free Dixie Day, the Solid Waste District donates labor and dumpsters and City crews donate their time to help citizens haul away large or bulky items.

Knowing that there are some citizens who are unable to clean up their yards, Mayor McArthur is challenging neighborhoods and community groups to organize and participate in clean-up projects to help those in need. This spring the Debris-Free Dixie Day will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 7:00 a.m. to noon. If you decide to organize a group to work on a service project in your area, the St. George Streets Division can provide you with garbage bags. To arrange this, call 627-4020 prior to Debris-Free Dixie Day.

Residents who need help hauling large or odd shaped items may contact Miriam Palma at 627-4050, mpalma@sgcity.org , Monday, March 11 to Saturday, March 16, to make an appointment for pickup. Please have items on the curb and they will be picked up by crews on Saturday, March 16, between 7:00 a.m. and noon.

There will be dumpsters in the following locations for convenience:

Sunbowl Parking lot (2),
